And yet another career picture.
I tried not to fall into banal stereotypes, and still depict something that unmistakably looked like a medieval witch (the sickle is meant to give the figure a pagan look, as it hopefully reminds of those of the celtic druids). Then I sought inspiration through the internet, looking at medieval and renaissance miniatures and paintings about witches and witch hunting. This is the result. I hope it can be considered a success in my intent...

This is one of my less popular pictures... I always wondered why despite the effort i'd put on it... :)

It's very cool. Kinda reminds me of things I have read about the Russian "super-witch" Baba Yaga. Yours has a lot more primal, tribal feel to it than a lot of more "traditional" witch art.
I guess so... my intent was to give it an ancient celtic look, but not too much of a fantasy one.
Warhammer Fantasy RPG, from which (hahah! play of words with "witch"... i know it's horrible) the picture is inspired, has a rather "dark ages" look about it rather than the usual tolkienian high fantasy style. Strange, considering how much high fantasy the miniature game is...

I do like the more primordial feel of this witch. She reminds me so much of the Verbena, the witches, druids and pagan mages from Mage: The Ascension. Good work, and Faved. :)

Madness is a rational reaction to an irrational world.
Oh, maybe there was some influence from Mage, now that I think of it. Not a conscious one...
Thanks for faving!
